Today was my 1st day in my new unit, 'ANG 2 - Armour NSMen Group 2' (actual name is classified) Judging frm today's expierence, I'm gonna hate my unit life! Sucks... Ok, my unit is a reservist unit. So most may say gd wat, slack. These are the reasons why i beg to differ:
1. My RSM (regimental sgt major)
He implements alot of shitty stuff. We r strongly advised to use our 'offs' on thurs; strictly no taking of leave/off on mon or fri; stay in on mon, wed; book in timing of 0715?!?! etc. Plus he conducts a damn kilat muster parade and standby bunk once a month. When i say kilat, i mean really kilat... trust me..
2. The Unit
Firstly, its a very chinah place. We all noe how 'powderful' my chinese is ah... it seems all the lau jiao regulars are indians, so speaking chinese is especially useful. Haiz... Secondly, my unit has no 'B' vehicles (the type of vehicles i'm trained to handle) and only 3 drivers of which only one is in camp (1 in Australia on Exercise, 1 learning driving). They only hav 'A' vehicles (tanks etc) and lots of Auto-Tech 'A's. So essentially, a transport supervisor is redundant in this unit. One really wonders y not one but two new transport sups were posted here in the first place. Thirdly, my upper-study (i.e my senior who's suppose to show me the ropes) has O.R.D. oredi and my Senior Transport Sup is in Australia till 22nd nov. So, there's no one to assign us stuff or work to do till the end of nov. This seems good rite? slack for one month. Unfortunately, slacking wif a bastard of a RSM is no good ok! When u Can't do anything when u're not doin anything is a terrible feelin. Today was enuf to make me depressed, how am i goin to survive the nxt 1 month? One mite think it'll improve after the 22nd of nov. U're wrong! I'll be attached to a active armour unit. One wif lots of 'B' vehicles and lots of exercises like 4 SAB!! I'll be thrown into the deep end to drown! its really stupid! I'm posted to a unit dat doesn't need me, so i'm attched out for 2 yrs only coming back when needed. Essentially i'll be working for 2 units! All i ask for is for a moderately busy unit, one wif juz enough amt of work. Is dat so much to ask?
Fourthly, the unit is full of auto-techs and hardly any tpt sups so i'll like a fish out of water at a moment. Coupled wif my inability to converse in chinese, it gonna be diff to make gd frens like i did back at STC. sigh... Lastly, i can't even be a driver for this month and at least clock some mileage and get FAM trging on new vehicles cuz the only qualified guy is in Australia! sucks big time... Arrrgghhh... To frustrated to type anymore!
