Its funny how life can change in a blink of an eye. How your mood can behave like a yo-yo. How we're all caught in an intricate and delicate emotional web, constantly trying to keep it all together with every tug of a heartstring. Its tough.

Ever since i started clearing leave, i've noticed a trend... On the very very very occasional days i step out of the house to meet up with frens and all, i'll always end up having aching legs when i go to bed! u know.. the lactic acid build up kind of aches.. a real testament to how little movement i make when i'm couped up at home. what a reality check! i noe i shouldn't be surprised since all i do is watch tv/dvds or be at my com, but to get aches from walking the streets of orchard rd brings it to a whole new level! never in my life have i developed CPS (couch potato syndrome).

But what puzzles me is, y do i get these aches from walking when i can play soccer without feeling a thing afterwards? plus soccer happens less frequently.. haha.. weird..

anyways my sis juz came back from bangkok.. bought me a bunch of stuff.. couple of tees and shorts and some boxers.. its good when ur elder sis starts earning her own cash! hehehe.. she's never done anything like dat before.. more to come i hope! hahaha

Went to watch 'thank you for smoking' with my couz shirleen today. Its quite a good movie, pretty funny. But the most interesting part wasn't the movie but wat happened prior to it. hahaha.. To start off with, i was expecting to be late for the 1210pm show having missed my train while the nxt wud be 7 mins later! So it was 12 by the time i hit commonwealth, so i decided to alight and take a cab.. since its actually town is really near from there. But guess wat? i took the cab to the wrong cinema unknowingly! Simply hilarious and completely embarassing! For starters, i was the one sourced out the various movie timings and all the day before. Somehow my memory had failed me and i remembered that we decided to watch at cine when in truth it was ps. To rub salt into the wound, i had actually called shirleen when i alighted, asking her which level the cinema was, 5 or 7. She had also mentioned that she was a barang barang at the time. Sounding a little confused and kan jiong, well i was already 5mins late, she tells me level 7. So i enter the cine lift and i realise there's no level 7 only 6. Didn't think much of it and juz took to the 6th. So i was out there waiting for abt 5 mins or so and im wondering wats taking her so long? she said she was on the 5th only one floor down. Right den, the notion of me being in the wrong theatre slowly creeps in and i quickly call her. Immediately i ask," We're watching at cine rite? not ps rite?" den she frantically answers," Yes. No. PS, we're watching at PS rite?" I was like 'SHIT!!!!' hahaha.. i took a cab to the wrong place.. almost like a waste of money. anyways i rushed over, all sweaty from running in the hot sun and almost 20mins late. Felt so guilty. thankfully i think we didn't miss much, i mean we entered during the talkshow scene with 'cancer-boy'. Those who have also caught the film, pls fill me in on wat i've missed. thanks.

So after the movie, we went to cafe cartel for lunch. didn't noe they changed their service policy.. maybe someone complained dat they shouldn't get us to self-order if we're paying service charge? anyways lunch was good. Shirleen scooted off to give tuition while i stayed in town to try to get more shopping done! hehehe.. Not very fruitful tho.. couldn't find a nice pair of shoes and im still holding out on dat espirit bag.. Only a g-star t-shirt and a pair of armani xchange berms caught my eye. but both were way above budget at 115 (excl. 10% discount) and 169 nett respectively. i like g-star alot, but its really too pricey.. i'll nvr pay 100 plus for a t-shirt.. even on discount. haha.. same for the berms.. although it was exactly wat i was looking for, striped and all, 169 is insane! So i went home empty-handed. think i'll check out queensway for my shoes and bags one day.

Yay! Cooked lunch for the family today. yeah i noe, was suppose to start on mon but i forgot abt the world cup final. A man needs his sleep. haha.. speaking of the world cup, wat a way to bow out zidane! (pun intended) I wasn't surprised so much by his act of insanity but rather by the forcefulness of his bowing (hehehe) he really charged like a raging bull, sans the hair - i mean - horns. haha.. i guess he figured he might as well hit with greater force since it wouldn't change the fact that he'll still be red-carded. plus he needn't worry abt gettin additional bans on future matches since he's retired. well ok, he mite have to wait awhile for his testimonial haha.. ok i have seriously digressed. Ok. so wat did i cook today?

1. Onion Omelette
2. Stir-fried baby kailan and sliced carrots with garlic and osyter sauce
3. buttered prawns in wheat cereal complete with curry leaves

The onion omelette was straight-forward and easy. hey, how difficult can it get? but i'll admit, my attempt at flipping it over was a total flop haha. The veges was simple as well.. apart from the garlic! dicing garlic is an art i say. a difficult one to master i might add. instead of doin the usual 'smash and dice' popularised by Mr Yan, my maid taught me another technique she learnt from a fren. I think its juz as effective, but i was damn worried i was going to cut myself so naturally i was as slow as a tortoise. pun intended. no worries tho, i'll improve with practice. Anyways, initially i thought the last dish would be a challenge, but it was just as simple as the earlier two. It just took more preparation time. And i tell u, it is darn difficult to rid the smell from your fingers. hahaha... anyways, during the course of cooking the meal, my maid imparted many valuable lessons. I think the best lesson today was to used not only seperate cutting boards but knives as well. One for poultry, meat, fish, garlic, onions etc and one for fruits and vegetables. Really common sense but it never crossed my mind till she mentioned it. Incidentally, after lunch, i was watching Oprah and she realised why her kitchen has two cutting boards. haha. Yeah she was doin a show on cooking and stuff. weird coincidence.

ok, think dats all for today. ciao

Inspired by the new movie, i've heroically come to save my blog after a 3 month hiatus! hehehe...

I've no idea y my blogging has been so infrequent the past 18mnths... maybe life's become all too mundane for me or maybe all the craze and attention on blogging or rather 'celebrity bloggers' has stifled me. ( i make it a pt to aviod the norm and escape the fads. that's me.) Watever the reason (probably both and a string of others), my blog's been revived as i turn the page to a new chapter in my life!

Now, that, i'm clearing leave awaiting my ORD date, i've got lots of free time. (only goin to work half-a-day each wk of july and none for the month of aug hehehe) Initially, i'd planned to find a job (which im not ruling out) since i only leave mid oct but i've got one major plan that's gonna wreck most job prospects: that is to pick up cooking! Considering the yrs i'm goin to spend abroad, its in my best interest to know how to whip up those home-cooked meals. As such, i've decided to understudy my maid, my family better brace themselves haha. Unfortunately i haven't been dat conscientious, only managing one meal the past wk. hash browns and battered fish, not exactly local fare i was hoping to cook. and my maid invited me into the kitchen a bit too late! having done the marinating herself, she just left the frying to me. she didn't fully understand that i'll be doin the cooking and she'll just watch haha.. well, it'll be different next time, and i promise it'll be more den once a wk, everyday in fact!

Along with my cooking training, i have two other 'free time busters'. Gym and studying! Yes, i've been procrastinating ever since i wore green, infact i still am... abt a wk behind schedule, thanks to my nasty blister. but i swear, i'll clock at least an hr a day. not happy with my cup size hahaha. High protein Low carb, here i come!

As for the studying, yes studying, i noe its a shocker. i nvr study until exams. but hey look where it got me? plus, army really gives you motivation to hit the books. 3yrs without intellectual stimulation, that's a serious handicap. not forgetting, you're also so pissed off at the gross amt of time wasted that u'll be so eager to make up for loss time. So, anyways, i've under-achieved all my life, never setting any real goals. But that's gonna change, i've decided to pursue my passion and carve a career in psychology. Doctorates are always demanding, but im bracing myself. So i figured it'll aid my preps alot if i knew wat topics are goin to be covered in the first sem. the website was too vague so i emailed an adminstrator last nite and she replied immediately today. but her response was really disappointing and somewhat rehearsed. pretty obvious she couldn't bother to help. explains the quick response. nevertheless, my revision shall commence. hopefully, much of it would be relevant.

ok goin to bed now.. still got world cup action to catch later on! still a bit bitter from brazil's shameful exit, but its not goin to dampen my world cup spirits! ciao.
