Wat irony... the day my american hsemate ,Dan, cleans up the hse (he's leaving so there's an inspection) i have to set the kitchen on FIRE!!! yeah im serious, no laughing matter.. I'm ok, juz scalded my legs abit. sigh... my freaking pot of oil COMBUSTED! nvr expected it to happen... oh mans.. all i wanted to do was deep-fry some prawn fritters!! now im probably goin to be slapped with a hefty bill. arrgghh!
I juz left my pot of oil to heat up on the stove, while i went to dice my garlic and prepare my vegatables. Next thing i noe, i hear a 'prooof' sound and i turn ard to see my pot in flames!! couldn't hav been more den a couple of mins! In a state of panic, i did something really really stupid! i grabbed the pot and tried to douse the flames by pouring the oil away in the sink. sheer stupidity! cuz in retrospect, its obvious i was merely fueling tne flames with more hot oil! Naturally, the flames blew sky high at my sink, forcing me to throw the pot onto the floor scalding me in the process.. Afterwhich, i rushed for my fire extinguisher and put out the fire.
Alarm rings and lots of cleaning up later, the damage done was minimal. My kitchen bench top was slightly damaged (but i noe repairs are goin to be costly. it is the most expensive thing in my hse) abd my floor has some burnt marks. damn it! i shud hav juz rushed for the fire extinguisher right away!
So frens, i say again, DO NOT LEAVE OIL UNATTENDED! it could juz start boiling and burst into flames!
